Untitled – #57

In the summer of 2008, I was an engineer of an electric commuter railroad that operated between South Bend, Indian and Chicago. During my many trips to and from South Bend I would pass this wheat field which, in July of that year, had captured my attention.

On that 4th of July 2008 I drove about 15 miles to be near the field and then walked the remaining two miles, or so, to the field to be personally rewarded by this sight, recorded by my camera.

I love the colors, texture, detail, framing of the sky, and memory of that part of a journey within my journey.

Another picture, among the 60 taken that day, that appears in our Etsy Shop, is Untitled #5.

As I’ve often mentioned in these stories, Lake Marmo, within the Morton Arboretum, is one of our favorite places to visit.

This picture was taken in October 2022 as the fall colors began to come to life. It was a beautiful, gentle day; the lake placid, the sky brushed with hints of clouds, wildlife still all around us before the onslaught of cold, changes, though nuanced and subtle, happening everywhere in the plants, bushes, and trees.

I took 58 pictures that lovely day and among those we placed four of those in our Etsy Shop. For a further glimpse into that part of our journey we invite you to see Trees – Untitled #33, Landscape – Untitled #50, and Trees – Untitled #68.

Landscape – Untitled #50

Lake Marmo, inside the confines of the Morton Arboretum, Lisle, Illinois, a favorite stop of ours, offers a mirror reflection of the October 2022 trees as they slowly begin their colorful transformation into full fall color.

This is one of five pictures taken that day that you can find in our Etsy Shop. Trees – Untitled #33, Landscape – #49, and Trees – #68 can be found in our Shop and their stories found here, on our website.

Untitled – #82

This hydrangea’s picture was taken in late April 2023. It had survived the winter intact and displayed the delicacies, details, and nuances which were particularly rewarding since many plants do not remain in such good condition after winter.

One of our many trips to the Morton Arboretum, Lisle, Illinois produced this inspiration of retaining a degree of unique beauty after otherwise, harsh and trying circumstances. A survivor.

In Saugatuck, Michigan, there is a park, called Mason Park, that is on the southeast corner of the intersection of Mason and Butler Streets. While not large, it is beautifully intimate with flowers, sculptures, trees, and benches upon which to sit to enjoy the beauty. And though it is right next to one of the busy intersections in Saugatuck, it is a peaceful haven, a get-away, from the tourists, shoppers, visitors, attraction-seekers, and shopkeepers and residents that call this beautiful town home.

Within that lovely park we took this picture of a Stargazer Lily during a brief visit in July 2023. We’ve made several visits there over the years and have always found new and beautiful sights to behold and never-ending new things to discover.

Untitled – #97

Our nearby community garden offered many great photo opportunities in 2022. This picture of a morning glory, taken in September, shows the detail of the pistil and interior of the flower with the petals being illuminated by the sun.

Another picture, taken that day, that you can find in our Etsy Shop is Flowers – Untitled #32.

Untitled – #102

An October 2022 walk around Crabapple Lake in the Morton Arboretum, Lisle, Illinois offered so many appealing sights.

This milkweed pod that had opened up gave an opportunity for the seeds with their feather-like structures to go airborne to find fertile ground.

Untitled – #77

A month or two prior to taking this picture, I was driving in the area near our home. I noticed out of the corner of my eye what appeared to be a larger that normal garden area. In the process of time, I was able to locate the area on Google maps and decided to plan a trip to take pictures.

On that October 2022 day, I ended up taking over one hundred pictures at Prairie Walk Pond, in Lisle, Illinois, despite its relatively small area. Of its 4.5 acres, 2 acres are taken up by the pond and a trip around the pond is only 1/3 of a mile. But it was plush with an amazing variety of plants and flowers.

This is a picture of Indian hemp in the foreground and I love the way it contrasts with the, mostly, out of focus purple blossoms behind.
Another version of this picture, Untitled #72, with some Lightroom modifications, as well as Untitled #87, and Untitled #95 are available in our Etsy Shop from that day’s adventure.

Untitled – #72

This is the same picture as Untitled #77 with some modifications. To read the story about the pictures, please go to Untitled #77.

For those who might like a softer, more subtle version of Untitled #77, we offer this versions wherein we adjusted the clarity and texture.

Other pictures from that day, that you can find in our Etsy Shop, besides Untitled #72 and Untitled #77, include Untitled #87, and Untitled #95.

Untitled – #81

In this picture we see the sun setting over Lake Michigan, taken in June 2008 from its sandy shores, in my hometown of Michigan City, Indiana.

It was one of countless beautiful nights on the lakeshore, enhanced by the illuminated sky and clouds, the reflections off the lake and sands, and the ever-faithful Michigan City lighthouse.

Tranquility and the golden hues made it such a memorable moment.

This image and Beach – Untitled #36 can both be found in our Etsy Shop.
